For those who may be new to counselling and do not know what to expect, counselling is a talking therapy that allows a person to talk about their problems and feelings in a confidential and safe environment. Counselling is not the fairy-tale answer to life’s problems, and does not always offer instant solutions, but what counselling does provide is an opportunity to gain a better understanding of the ways in which positive changes can create a means of exploring difficulties, a tool to explore difficult personal issues providing supplementary support, and this means that anyone attending counselling sessions must be prepared to put in the required time and effort to work towards creating emotional improvements, working towards resolving personal issues.
